The Northern California Rugby Football Referee Society will host the Level 1 Coaching of Match Officials course.

When: Saturday, October 3, 2015

Time: Class begins at 9:00 a.m. sharp. Wrap up NLT 5:00 p.m.

Where: Building ABS, Room 102, California Maritime Academy, Vallejo, CA (This classroom is subject to change. Students will be notified if the room is changed.)

Cost: Free to active members of the Northern California Rugby Football Referee Society $60 to all others

Prerequisites:
o Current USA Rugby membership, including registration as a referee
o Level 1 Officiating course certification or equivalent
o At least three seasons of refereeing experience and a desire to support other referees through the medium of coaching

Requirements for Level 1 Coaching of Match Officials Course Certification: Attend and participate in all course modules

Description of the Level 1 Officiating Sevens course:
A one day, attendance only program the purpose of which is to introduce the concept and role of referee coaching to enable assistance and guidance to develop the referee, focusing on the following:
1. The principles rugby;
2. The planning needed for effective coaching;
3. Observation skills and analysis;
4. Review document preparation;
5. Use of video;
6. Reading the game and identifying trends;
7. The concept of materiality;
8. The REVIEW process;
9. Questioning and listening skills;
10. Using the competence based review approach.

Miscellaneous:
o Lunch will be provided
o Students need writing implements for their classroom work
